DS9 is still my all time favorite Trek. It's diverse cast didn't come at the expense of the Caucasian actors. It didn't condescendingly smear your face in its acerbic faux morality and diversity as though we all needed to bow down to celebrate it. It didn't use the Caucasian male characters as evil imperial oppressors needing to be defeated while the diverse characters were exclusively the good guys. It was a perfectly balanced show with a perfectly balanced cast. Ben Sisko was the best captain Star Trek ever had. I didn't even think about him being black as being special because there were lots of black people in Starfleet and always had been in the shows. Why wouldn't there be a black captain? It was logical. All races in the show had villains and heroes. It didn't single out one race as being the bad guys. The show wasn't self deprecating as so much of the media is today. I really miss Deep Space 9. It was a show that bridged gaps and promoted friendships, but I'm afraid if a reunion show were ever produced, it would be tainted by the same woke disease afflicting modern Trek like STD.

Star Trek Discovery is a generic sci-fi thriller, It has nothing to do with star trek, the only Star Trek thing about this show is the name. Other than that, it's a generic sci-fi show. I think that the writers and creators of Star Trek Discovery doesn't really like the old star trek, they probably hate generations, don't like deep space nine, and can't stand voyager. Because they are doing everything in their power to stay away from those plots and story lines.

Hopefully season 2 is being produced by someone other than Kurtzman, otherwise it'll be more of the same trash Trek with a few decent scenes but overall disappointing treatment of Picard.

Looked it up on memory alpha and it was featured on a TNG episode. Go to season 2 episode 20 at 24:07 and you’ll see the title “dixen hill the long dark tunnel”. The title of that TNG episode? The Emissary

On the other hand, they shouldv'e done what they did with Spock in Star Trek 2, 3 and 4...that is, drag this story out for another movie or 2 (maybe have them struggle to go back forward in time, or something...) But still, great movie. My 2nd one, first being Star Trek Generations ;-)
